When a pandemic brings you closer to what you really want in life...

There are so many bad things about the coronavirus and COVID-19. I don't think it's necessary to go into it. We all know that when we come out of this--eventually--it's going to have changed the very fabric of our society and who we are as people. In my own life, I'm nervous about sickness, job loss, educational interruption, and an exacerbation of our anxiety, which already runs high in the family. But as I look at our daily routine, much of it is what I have been wishing for for a very long time. I can "sleep in" until 6 or 6:30 if I want, using the time to snuggle with my boys instead of hopping in the shower and running out the door to "beat the traffic." I have the time--if I wish--to run in the morning. For the past 3-4 years I've been complaining that I have NO time to fit exercise into my life. Well that excuse is technically gone now. Going back to the idea of traffic, you really can't "beat the traffic" in Bosto...

Day 11 3/23/20

Yet another cold walk around the neighborhood. What happened to the spring weather we were having? The crocouses have been out for weeks...tree buds ready to burst...and we are going to get snow later!?!?! Time telling, measurement, and money videos Flag drawing Practicing time-telling The backpacks are still hung up...can't bring myself to take them down yet, even though I'm pretty sure they won't get used for the rest of the year. Measuring the microwave... Lasagna soup Hard to see, but it's SNOWING! Finally cracked this bottle of wine from my friend's wedding in Vermont in 2015...Thank God it was still good! What a pour!! ;-) We brainstormed questions to research...they crack me up! It's still snowing...

Day 12: 3/24/20

Started the day with a walk in the neighborhood. Then we did some journal writing. Weather was cold, but we played a little baseball... Next we did some research about Frank Lloyd Wright. Adi just finished a book about him. We looked at his buildings. Then we learned about Antonio Gaudi and looked at his buildings. Then we looked up tiny houses. Seb liked what he saw so much (especially the school bus houses!) that he was sold--he wants to sell our house and move into a school bus and drive around the country! ;-) Then we made a Lincoln Log town Seb draws flags...over and over again. He especially likes doing the Spanish-speaking countries... More outdoor time. Wrestling with me as the ref... Silent reading We finished off the day with Anne of Green Gables. Today was hard--the boys are fighting a lot more this week. Today's insult: "You're an idiotic crap fart." No...
